NADIR

2025

The Biel/Bienne Photography Days invite each year the second-year graphic design class of the School of Visual Arts to participate in a collective exhibition around a given theme.

In 2025, the given theme was «Horizon». Rather than exploring the distant line that separates the sky from the earth, I chose to focus on its opposite: the nadir, the infinitely close, which one does not notice at first glance. This approach allowed me to question our perception of the landscape, not as a visible expanse, but as an abstract, almost microscopic matter.
To give shape to this idea, I created a series of macro photographs by creating staging based on liquids. I experimented with different textures, materials and colorful lights, to compose images where the real turns into a kind of inner world, between nature and abstraction. The shots were then re-colorized to ensure chromatic coherence in the series and reinforce the sensation of a floating, undetermined universe.

The final photos were printed in 165 78 cm format and presented at the Résidence au Lac à Bienne, as part of the group exhibition.
